I have been an ardent comic book fan from a very early age.
I still have some wonderful childhood memories of reading comic books for hours at nights and at wee hours in the morning during my summer holidays.
These include reading comic books of Tinkle, Chacha Chaudhary, Indrajal Comics, Panchatantra, Archies, Amar Chitra Katha etc during the ages of five to ten.
I owe my passion for reading comic books to my grandmother. She had a tremendous impact on my childhood as I keenly waited for her to read me bedtime stories. She did it with zeal and my memories growing up with those magical tales are still freshly etched in my mind as a curious four year old. Her favorites were, tales of Akbar and Birbal, Tales from Mahabharata and Ramayan and of course, my personal favorites, Tenali Raman and Vikram Aur Betaal.
I was always a fan of creative art and craft and these stories helped me write, speak about, design, sketch characters and imagine tales that still form part of my wonderful early childhood days.
Comic books introduced me to a world where I never needed television or any other form of entertainment as a child to have fun. I distinctly remember, there were times when we had a mini-library of comic books at the apartment building where I was growing up. Here my friends and I exchanged scores of comic books every day and the joys were boundless. We even discussed the comic book characters and stories as we enjoyed other forms of sport like cycling, cricket, football during our summer holidays.
I am 32 years old as of date (October 2014) and heading a Digital marketing and social media creative services agency under the brands of Techdivine and Your SMQ ~ Social media Quotient catering across 3 countries (India, USA & UAE) as a Founder & CEO, but my passion for reading comic books has only grown immensely over the years.
Of course, today my favorites list of comic book collections have added to it the collections of DC Comics -Batman, Asterix & Obelix, Tintin, Superman, X-Men, Indrajal Comics – Phantom, Mandrake the Magician, Bahadur, Lt.Drake, Diamond Comics ……over and above the few comic books listed above to a total list of around 150 comic books as of date.
I have always been an avid reader (Connect with me on Good reads) and I enjoy reading books of the following genre: (GENRE: Fav books/authors)
- Management (Peter Drucker, Stephen Covey, Napoleon Hill, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, HBR series)
- Autobiography (Business leaders)
- Comic Books (Batman, Superman, Asterix & Obelix, Watchmen, X-Men, Tintin, Tinkle, Indrajal Comics, Archies)
- Self-help (Robin Sharma, Shiv Khera, Anthony Robbins)
- Philosophy (Swami Vivekananda)

Across decades the journey from the eras of Silver age, golden age to times where this virulent art of comics and comic books has transformed into not merely a serious business but also considered as a serious form of education, the limits and possibilities today are endless.
As years roll by, I am very positive, that Comic books will soon be seen as serious forms of financial investments too. With the recent sales of Vintage comic books touching records of over 3 Million Dollars, things are looking pretty awesome for this industry and its fans across the globe!
That coupled with the immensely growing Comic book blockbuster movies like Batman series, Superman series, Marvel’s Iron Man, Hulk and Avengers etc the growing popularity and more importantly understanding of this powerful form of expression can be easily felt across comic-cons. (Comic Con India 2012 and Comic Con India 2013)
I am both, a serious comic book fan, reader and a newbie comic book collector. But to be honest, my joys are boundless when I am sitting with my little nephews and nieces and taking them through some of these amazing comic books and I see the glitter in their eyes when they hear an exciting turn of events in the storylines of their favorite comic book characters.
So I thought of starting this blog today to share my experiences of comic books with like-minded readers and to learn from all of you about your experiences of the same and also to get into the details of this culture of reading and understanding more in-depth about comic books today and in the coming years.
Feel free to write to me here about your favorite comic books, your experiences and most cherished memories and comic book characters.
Would love to hear from all of you.
Have a wonderfully imaginative and creatively fun filled life ahead.
Life has a way of balancing itself!
